Susie is available to train and coach school children ages 10-18. Her program is presented in two parts.
Part One of the training, preferably offered to all the students in a given age group, is Conflict Education. Susie gets kids thinking about the nature of conflict as well as its inevitability. She also presents them with tools for handling conflictual situations - alternatives to the "fight or flight" response. The general theme of this phase of the training is that conflict is an opportunity, not just a nuisance.
Part Two of the training is offered to those children who want to be Peer Mediators at their school. Once the training has been completed, Susie works with school staff to set up an ongoing Peer Mediation Program. Periodically, she meets with Peer Mediators for a brown bag lunch during which trainees can ask questions, present case studies for discussion, and otherwise develop their expertise.
